SOPA preparedness

Dave Winer posted this link to a list of IP’s of various popular websites that might become unreachable in the event of a SOPA DNS blockade.

There’s just one problem with the list: if you want to do this the easy way, you need the ip’s and hostnames formatted in the opposite direction the list has them in. Here’s revised version you can just paste into your /etc/hosts file on your computer, including rooted Androids and Jailbroken iPhones. Thwart SOPA? Easy. Just keep this list up-to-date and hosted off-shore somewhere, and then set a shell script to update your copy of hosts on a nightly basis. Things will actually run a lot faster without all the DNS look-ups.

It’s true that this get’s unwieldily once you start running into thousands of sites, that’s why DNS was invented, but it’s also how the ARPA and DARPA nets worked for about 20 years before DNS was invented. Should work ok for the first few months.

Here’s the list. Just copy and paste into your /etc/hosts file.
